FISHING!!. The only time one is never scolded for bitting off more than he can chew

The idea of forming a club for the benefit of anglers working within the NSW Police Department was first raised back in 1973 at the old Police Club in Sussex St. Unfortunately when the Police Club folded, so did the plans for a Fishing Club. In 1976, a group regularly fishing together raised the idea again.

These men, Col Wheatley, Nev Sternbeck, Bill Ralph and Bob Crocker, with the advice from Sgt’s Keith Burwood and Ian Toll, commenced the process and a Constitution was drawn up. This, along with a letter, was sent to the Commissioner of Police, Mervyn T Wood, requesting permission to form a club for anglers working within the department. Permission was duly granted and on the 27th July 1977, the first inaugural meeting was held. The first bearers of the club were elected to office.

Today, the NSWPFC continues with support from prominent marine businesses and companies. New members with the same passions have seen the Club grow to accommodate members from other emergency service groups, law enforcement agencies and their families. One of the original members and founder, Nev Sternbeck remains with the club and holds a position in office. He continues his involvement as a keen member and fisher.

For fantastic fishing, camping and family fun. Inquire today.

The NSW Police Fishing Club is open to all serving and retired members of the NSW Police, families and friends. Membership is also encouraged between other NSW Emergency Services Departments and law Enforcement agencies.
